Random Pokemon Generator

What It Appears to Do

Choosing Pokémon at random is easy when the goal is a single surprise, but less convenient when you need a defined group, a particular generation, or a reproducible result. This browser-based generator is designed for that more controlled workflow. It can create sets of 1, 3, or 6 Pokémon from a listed pool of 1,025 species, with filters for debut generation and type.

The result is not limited to a one-time roll. Visitors can lock cards they want to keep, reroll the remaining slots, replay a result from its seed, or share the current state through a URL hash. That makes the tool suitable for activities where everyone needs to work from the same starting set.

How the Experience Is Organized

The main controls establish the boundaries of a roll. Generation options run from Gen 1 through Gen 9, while the type filter covers the standard Pokémon types. Additional controls can narrow results by category—Regular, Legendary, or Mythical—and by evolution stage or status. A “No shared types” setting is available when type overlap should be avoided.

Results can also include optional nature, gender, and ability details. The page describes these details as deterministic for the current seed, so replaying the same state can reproduce the associated information. “Unique” prevents a National Dex entry from repeating within one result, although related species are not removed from the pool.

Notable Capabilities

• Controlled randomization: Choose the number of slots, generation boundary, type, and several species attributes before generating.
• Incremental refinement: Lock useful cards and reroll only the open slots rather than discarding the entire result.
• Reproducible sharing: Copy a short seed or create a shareable URL containing the rules, slot IDs, and locks, without a server-side saved record.
• Optional visual context: Sprites can be displayed when available, while the text cards remain usable if an image request fails.
• Browser-based operation: The generator uses an included species list for generation, and the page says preferences and the latest valid result can remain in the browser.

Where It May Fit

The tool could support writing prompts, drawing warm-ups, study or sorting exercises, and friendly group challenges. A constrained roll offers a more explainable starting point than manually selecting favorites, especially when a shared seed lets participants compare how they use the same Pokémon set.

What to Verify Before Relying on It

The available evidence identifies this as an independent fan tool, not an official Pokémon product. Metadata is described as coming from PokéAPI species, Pokémon, and generation endpoints, so visitors who need precise classification should confirm how a particular species, form, or evolution is represented. Also check that the selected filters leave a large enough pool: the page recommends widening constraints, reducing the slot count, disabling Unique, or allowing shared types when results become too limited.

Overall, this is worth investigating if you want Pokémon randomization with filtering, replay, and sharing rather than an unstructured roll. Users seeking official data, server-side history, or a broader game database should verify those requirements separately.
